I 'met' Dawn Lucy through Instagram where she posts pictures of herself almost daily. She uses a smartphone for all her images so I idea it would be interesting to find out how she does it and she uses Instagram. The name of her blog Fashion Should Be Fun is something I wholeheartedly agree with. Let's encounter … I've always loved way from a young age! I even majored in Fashion Merchandising in college for awhile, but decided to go with my other dear, literature and instruction. I've been a high school English instructor for 22 years now and really savour my chore, though it's quite exhausting sometimes! I live in the Los Gatos/Santa Cruz mountains with my husband (and best friend!) and our "babies" … ii dogs and 2 cats.

I'm 48 and proud of it!

Can you tell us a bit more than about your blog Fashion Should Exist Fun and why you created information technology?

Outset I started using Instagram and connecting with other women interested in fashion. I started reading their blogs and so starting my own seemed similar the natural next footstep!

You are also a very keen instagrammer, which is how I started noticing you. Why do you lot like it then much?

Instagram is a fun manner to gyre through many unlike looks, from all over the earth, in a brusque period of time. I like the immediacy of IG. Also, I experience less pressure on IG to take peachy pics! Lots of us on IG are doing quick selfies as we're running out the door to work and that gives it a real life feel.

I beloved them both! If I could only do ane, I would choose my web log because I get to spend more fourth dimension on one look or topic.

I believe you have all your photos with an iphone yourself. How do y'all practice this exactly and what are your tips to get the all-time photographs?

I exercise! I was hoping when I started blogging that my husband would get interested in photography, but that didn't happen! I just use an iphone 4S with a free timer cam app. (annotation from Sylvia: I use Camera+ which has a self-fourth dimension and is also a great editing tool for your pictures!) I used to face the camera toward me so I could come across myself pose, simply so I realized that if I took shots the other fashion the photo was much clearer and less grainy. I usually only set my phone on our deck railing or again the argue, but sometimes I drag a piddling tabular array around with me for more variety! I may invest in a good camera and tripod someday, but I'm a bit intimidated on all the new things I'll need to acquire!

Do you use any apps to enhance your images? If yes what do you use?

I use a free photo edit app on my iphone. I commonly don't apply filters, only I practise similar the "illuminate" function for when my photos come out nighttime. And occasionally I'll ingather out a doggy tail!

How would you depict your own style?

I actually like modernistic classics, mixed with fun trendy pieces. I tend to be fatigued to things with a bit of an edge, similar a rocker or boho vibe.

What would you consider the nearly important components of your way?

Functionality is very important to me. I actually want to feel good wearing something … feel attractive, comfy, and confident.

Where do you lot live and how does that influence your style?

That's an interesting question for sure. I live in the Los Gatos/Santa Cruz mountains, just minutes from San Jose. Silicon Valley has that nerdy coincidental thing going on. Los Gatos is an upscale community and a flake more than yuppie/preppy. Santa Cruz is notoriously hippy-chic! I call up I'm influenced by all those styles. And I definitely lean toward California coincidental in general.

Do you feel you have a signature style?

I really similar to experiment with my way, but if I had to pick something that was iconic to existence me, I'd probably option jeans, boots, a leather jacket, silverish jewelry, big sunglasses and a large bag!

What inspires your outfit choices the near?

I dear to be inspired past other bloggers and Instagrammers. I as well get inspiration from magazines, Television receiver, and movies, and people watching. I even get inspiration from odd places, like in one case I created an outfit inspired by my husky's coloring!

Do you take things like colour profiling or trunk type into account when y'all dress?

I definitely think about body shape. I'g a pear shape and it really does affect how I look in sure things.

I believe in dressing age appropriately for me, just I'm wary of making sweeping generalizations and rules. For instance, I haven't been in a mini brim in years, but I do know some women looking dandy in them right into their 40's. On the other manus, I love this new graphic tee trend, only I'chiliad sure there are some mature ladies who wouldn't be caught dead with some empty-headed words across their breast! I think it'southward all very personal, based on body type, lifestyle, and personality.

Would you say that at this phase of your life you are now more, or less interested in fashion, style and the way you look?

I am just as interested in mode, but my focus has inverse. Being sexy and trendy isn't such an ideal anymore. At this betoken in my life, I'm more than virtually expressing myself, being comfortable, playing with different looks and actually just having fun.

• Be playful. Try new things!
• Go to the store with a friend and pick out outfits for each other to endeavor on and giggle a lot!
• Play fashion show in your living room!
• Take on an IG style challenge!
• Wear something that makes you smile!

What are your plans for your blog and how do you lot run into information technology develop over the coming years?

That's a cracking question. I promise to keep improving and growing, because that volition make me happy. But I notice when I commencement treating my blog also much like a job or a business concern, I start to lose the fun that I'one thousand having with it.
